Who knew that I’d someday belong to an organization called Boys Team Charity??
Thanks to my handsome son, who is now old enough to join, he and I are two of Granite Bay’s newest members of btc (intentionally lower case), a service organization of boys and their parents who together pledge to serve a dozen or so hours each per year to various local charities. If you know me at all, you know that this is right up my alley!
From the btc website: “btc was founded by families that wanted to teach their boys the importance of giving back and making a difference in their local community. btc teams 7th through 12th grade boys with their families to provide community service in their local communities. In addition to providing valuable community service, we strive to promote personal growth, strengthen family relationships, develop team skills and provide educational opportunities for our young men.”
We’ve attended our first meeting, been fitted for official t-shirts and baseball caps, and have been given access to a calendar full of service projects. From gardening at a homeless shelter to collecting canned goods for the food bank, from keeping score at Special Olympics to refurbishing bikes for deserving kids – he and I have our work cut out for us. And I wouldn’t have it any other way!
